Andreas Christi famulus, dignus Dei Apostolus,
germanus Petri et in passione socius.
Videns Andreas crucem cum gaudio dicebat: Salve crux preciosa, 
quae in corpore Christe dedicata es.  O bona crux.

Sancte Andrea, ora pro nobis.

    Andrew, servant of Christ and God's worthy Apostle, 
    brother of Peter and companion in his passion.
    When Andrew saw his Cross he said with joy: Hail, precious cross, 
    consecrated to the body of Christ. O good cross.

    Holy Andrew, pray for us.



Verbum iniquum (Proverbs 30.7-8)

Verbum iniquum et dolosum longe fac a me, Domine. 
Divitias paupertatem ne dederis mihi, 
sed tantum victui meo tribue necessaria.
Duo rogavi te, ne deneges mihi antequam moriar.

    The iniquitous and lying word keep far from me, oh Lord.
    Give me neither riches nor poverty,
    But grant only such as is necessary for my sustenance.

Gratias agimus tibi propter magnam gloriam tuam
Domine Deus, Rex coelestis, Deus Pater omnipotens,
Domine Fili unigenite, Jesu Christe
Domine Deus, Agnus Dei, Filius Patris 
Qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis, suscipe deprecationem nostram.
Qui sedes ad dexteram Patris, miserere nobis.

    Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to all of good will.

III.

Credo in unum Deum, Patrem omnipotentem, factorem coeli et terrae,

    I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth
    and of all things visible and invisible.
    and in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
    eternally begotten of the Father.
    God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
    Begotten, not made; of one being with the Father 
    through Whom all things are made.
    For us and for our salvation He came down from Heaven.
    He was born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
    He was crucified for our sake under Pontius Pilate, died, and was buried.
    On the third day he rose again, in accordance with the Scriptures.
    He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
    He will come again to judge both the living and the dead,
    And His kingdom shall have no end.

    I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from
    the Father and the Son;
    Who is worshipped and glorified with the Father and the Son;
    Who has spoken through the prophets.
    I believe in one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
    I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins.
    I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.  
    Amen.
 
IV.

Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Pleni sunt coeli et terra gloria tua.  Osanna in excelsis.

    Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts.
    Heaven and earth are full of your glory.  Hosanna in the highest.


V.

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem.

    Lamb of God, You who take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
    Lamb of God, You who take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.



Inter vestibulum

Inter vestibulum et altare plorabant sacerdotes, 
ministri Domini, dicentes: Parce Domine populo tuo, 
Et ne deshereditatem tuam in opprobrium, 
ut non dominentur eis nationes.  
Da pacem, Domine, in diebus nostris.  Amen.

    Between the porch and the altar, the priests, 
    ministers of the Lord, wept, saying: Spare, O Lord, the people,
    and give not your inheritance to reproach,
    that nations will not have dominion over them.
    Give peace, O Lord, in our time.  Amen.

    At these sacred festivities, let rejoicing abound,
    And from our breasts let praises resound:
    Let old ways pass, let all be new,
    In our hearts, words, and all we do.

    The Last Supper is brought to mind,
    At which Christ, as we believe, gave the lamb and unleavened bread
    To his brethren according to the law
    Entrusted to their ancient fathers.

    After the typic lamb, the Feast consumed,
    The Body of the Lord was given to the disciples
    With his own hands, as we confess, he gave
    The whole for all, no less the whole for each.

    He gave from the fruits of the earth his Body as food:
    He gave from the fruits of the vine his Blood as a drink,
    Saying: Take this vessel which I proffer,
    Drink ye all from it.

    Thus this very sacrifice did he institute,
    The office of which he entrusted
    Alone to the elders, whom it befitted thus:
    To take, and to the rest to give.

    The Angelic bread becomes the bread of Man,
    The Heavenly bread gives a reality beyond symbols:
    O marvellous thing: the poor, lowly, and humble man
    now eats his Lord.

    O Godhead, three and one, thee we implore:
    So visit us, just as now we thee adore:
    By thy pathes lead us to where we aspire,
    To the light wherein thou dwellest.  Amen.

Mater patris et filia, mulierum laetitia, 
stella maris eximia, audi nostra suspiria,
regina policuriae, Mater misericordiae, in hac valle miseriae.
Oh Maria! propter filium confer nobis remedium.
Oh bone Jesu, fili Dei, nostras praeces exaudi!
Et praecibus da nobis regnum patris.  Amen.

    Mother and daughter of the Father, joy of women,
    Famous star of the sea, hear our sighs,
    Queen of the court of Heaven, Mother of mercy, in this vale of sorrow.
    Oh Mary, on account of your Son, grant us a cure.
    Oh good Jesus, Son of God, hear our prayers.
    And by these prayers grant us the Father's kingdom.  Amen.

O Sacrum Convivium                       

O sacrum convivium in quo Christus sumitur,
Recolitur memoria passionis eius, mens impletur gratia.
Et futurae gloriae nobis pignus datur.  Alleluia.

    O holy feast in which Christ is consumed,
    Recalling the memory of his passion, the soul is filled with thanks.
    And future glory is given us in promise.  Alleluia.
